Textbook of Integrative Sport and Exercise Nutrition: a chance to meet the authors – Professor Justin Roberts and Ian Craig

With so many publications on sports nutrition, why another book?” These were more or less the words used by Justin when approached by Ian with the grand idea of writing a very large book together a few years ago! There are several reasons for this, but perhaps the most important is the focus on integrative health that these authors bring to the sports nutrition field. The prevailing sports nutrition literature is dominated by macronutrient thinking – how many grams of fats, carbs and proteins does an athlete need to perform well – but what happens when an athlete’s gut does now adequately digest and absorb the ingested foods, and what happens to their available energy when the mitochondria lack sufficient co-factor nourishment and antioxidant protection? Integrative Sport and Exercise Nutrition holds an athlete’s health central to their physical performance.

Secondly, sports nutrition thinking is mostly derived from academic research, so with at least one academic researcher and one nutrition practitioner contributing to each chapter, this textbook looks to blend science with practice, including a consideration of how scientists and practitioners think.

Join Ian and Justin for an informative webinar, as you gain an opportunity to get inside their minds for an hour of time.
