Chronic fatigue is, unfortunately, a reality in sport – it is a state beyond overtraining syndrome, that many athletes don’t fully return from. The incredible drive required by athletes to reach the top levels of their sport can inevitably lead to this imbalanced state of health.
Something most sporting professionals don’t realise is that hidden trauma, often related to adverse child hood experiences, can be the inextricable link to an athlete’s drive to succeed, their resulting fatigue, and their unfortunate inability to recover.
In this special webinar, Ian Craig will be interacting with Elaine Wilkins, founder of The Chrysalis Effect chronic fatigue organisation. Together, they will delve into the fascinating (and essential) work of becoming trauma informed within sporting practice. Within the context of Covid triggering so many mental health issues, and many athletes currently struggling with long Covid, it is essential to understand the role that athletes’ hidden traumas play in the debilitating symptoms they come to sporting professionals with.
Ian will reveal some of his own (fatigue) history and childhood drivers within his journey as a middle-distance runner, plus he and Elaine will discuss a client case study that they recently worked on together.
