Growing evidence suggests a close link between inflammation and many chronic health conditions, including diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and asthma. Autoimmune diseases present with a clear gender bias with a greater prevalence amongst women, occurring at a rate of 2 to 1. Women appear to be affected with autoimmunity during periods of extensive stress, such as pregnancy, or during a great hormonal change. Is this true of all inflammatory responses, and how can we support a female athletes experiencing inflammation?
During this webinar, Amy will discuss the use of personalised nutrition to support female athletes experiencing inflammatory conditions, focussing on functional medicine approaches that aim to establish the underlying cause for their health imbalance(s) and the associated inflammation. The main considerations that will be covered are: stress, hormonal balance, hidden infections, leaky gut and nutrient deficiencies, food allergies/intolerances, toxins, and genetic predisposition.
