Did you know that we take 26,000 breaths per day? This happens automatically, but breathing is one of the few autonomic functions that we can consciously take control of, and for our benefit.
Functional breathing encompasses three fundamentals:
- Biochemistry: Breathing less air to improve tolerance to carbon dioxide.
- Biomechanics: Breathing low to improve recruitment of the diaphragm breathing muscle.
- Resonance Frequency Breathing: Slow breathing at six breaths per minute to bring balance to the autonomic nervous system (ANS).
The way you breathe at rest influences the way you breathe during physical exercise and sleep: if you have poor quality breathing at rest, you are likely to experience disproportionate breathlessness during exercise and heavy breathing (maybe snoring) during sleep.
During this webinar, Ross will talk you through the benefits of nasal breathing and he’ll introduce you to a number of exercises that you can integrate into your daily routine. These can be used to improve your carbon dioxide tolerance, and ultimately help you to tackle the throws of life.
