When it comes to optimising training, whether that be at an elite level, novice, or just for general wellbeing, the focus has traditionally been on enhancing physical performance and nutrition. These have both been widely regarded as the foundational pillars of peak performance for a long time.
In recent years, however, a third pillar of performance has gained the attention of academics, sports physiologists, and athletes across the world. What is this third pillar? It’s something we’ve all been doing from birth: sleep.
We all know the importance of sleep for general wellbeing and maintaining a healthy mind and body. But did you know that an effective sleep strategy can make the difference between a podium finish or going home with a loss?
In this webinar, Usamah Faheem will be discussing the importance of sleep and its role in achieving and maintaining peak performance. He’ll then go on to offer some strategies to build your very own sleep programme. Furthermore, he’ll consider the importance of heart rate variability trackers to monitor the effectiveness of sleep recovery from a bout of intense exercise.
