Oral disease, encompassing dental problems, currently receives little attention from a public health perspective. This is despite emerging scientific literature indicating that oral disease is a systemic player in the development of other keystone diseases. In this webinar, Pete sets the scene with regard to the important role that oral and dental health play in systemic health, including intervention strategies used within functional medicine to prevent oral disease. In particular, in this era where sports drinks and food products have become highly commercialised, he highlights the oral disease risks faced by athletes, considering their chosen sports nutrition strategies.
